This course will help you gain the necessary confidence to converse freely in german, through discussions of various topics suggested by both the student and the teacher. Through speeches, pr esentations, games, role plays, interviews and various methods, students get to improve and dwell on their conversational skills. This course is advised after level A2.

Can understand and use familiar, everyday expressions and very simple sentences, which relate to the satisfying of concrete needs. Can introduce him/herself and others as well as ask others a bout themselves – e.g. where they live, who they know and what they own – and can respond to questions of this nature. Can communicate in a simple manner if the person they are speaking to speaks slowly and clearly and is willing to help. Can understand sentences and commonly used expressions associated with topics directly related to his/her direct circumstances (e.g. personal informa tion or information about his/her family, shopping, work, immediate surroundings). Can make him/herself understood in simple, routine situations dealing with a simple and direct exchange of informatio n on familiar and common topics. Can describe his/her background and education, immediate surroundings and other things associated with immediate needs in a simple way.
Can understand the main points when clear, standard language is used and the focus is on familiar topics associated with work, school, leisure time, etc. Can deal with most situations typical ly encountered when travelling in the language region. Can express him/herself simply and coherently regarding familiar topics and areas of personal interest. Can report on experiences and events, des cribe dreams, hopes and goals as well as make short statements to justify or explain his/her own views and plans. Can understand the main contents of complex texts on concrete and abstract topics; als o understands specialized discussions in his/her own primary area of specialization. Can communicate so spontaneously and fluently that a normal conversation with native speakers is easily possible wi thout a great deal of effort on either side. Can express him/herself on a wide range of topics in a clear and detailed manner, explain his/her position on a current issue and indicate the benefits and drawbacks of various options.
Can understand a wide range of challenging, longer texts and also grasp implicit meanings. Can express him/herself spontaneously and fluently without having to search for words frequently and noticeably. Can use the language effectively and flexibly in his/her social and professional life or in training and studies. Can make clear, structured and detailed statements on complex topics and apply various means of text association appropriately in the process. Can effortlessly understand practically everything which he/she reads or hears. Can summarize information from various written and spoken sources, logically recounting the reasons and explanations. Can express him/herself spontaneously with high fluency and precision and also make finer nuances of meaning clear in more complex t opics.
In 2008, ÄDK became the first official examination centre for the ÖSD (Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch) and the second in the Middle east and north Africa region after Morocco.
The ÖSD is an international accredited language diploma for testing german as a foreign and second language, based in Vienna. This test is is targeted to all german language learners acr oss ages. 40,000 learners every year take the ÖSD language diploma.

The following exams are offered by ÖSD, according to the ÖSD website:
A1 Grundstufe Deutsch 1 assesses language competence in familiar, everyday situations on an elementary basis. This exam is for learners aged 14 and over and is also available as the Öste rreich-Variante (= Z-Variante) for migrants to Austria.
A1 Kompetenz in Deutsch 1 asseses the language competence of children and adolescents in private, school-related and semi-public situations. This exam is directed at young people aged 10 to 1 4.
A2 Grundstufe Deutsch 2 assesses the language competence needed to communicate in routine, everyday and professional situations on an elementary basis. It focuses on the simple and direct exc hange of information on familiar issues. This exam is for learners aged 14 and over and is also offered as the Österreich-Variante (= Z-Variante) for migrants to Austria.
A2 Kompetenz in Deutsch 2 assesses the language competence of children and adolescents in private, school-related and semi-public situations. It focuses on the simple and direct exchange of i nformation on familiar issues. This exam is directed at young people aged 10 to 14.
B1 Zertifikat Deutsch is an exam for learners aged 16 and over. It is conducted and was developed as a joint product by the ÖSD in cooperation with the Goethe Institut, telc GmbH and the Center for Language Learning and Research at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. The exam assesses the ability of independent language use in everyday and professional situations. The emphasis is on communicative competence but attention is also paid to formal accuracy. The exam will be available from January 2014 as the ZDÖ (Zertifikat Deutsch Österreich) exam. The B1 Zertifikat Deutsch für Jugendliche (for learners between the ages of 12 and 16) corresponds to the B1 Zertifikat Deutsch and differs only in the topics that have been adapted to adolescents and young peopl e.
Zertifikat B1 (modular) assesses the ability to use the language in familiar, everyday situations (work, school, leisure time, travel etc.). This exam is also offered as a module-based exam i n which the exam modules for reading comprehension, listening comprehension, writing skills and speaking can be taken independently of each other at different points of time. The exam is offered in co operation with the Goethe-Institut and is available to both learners aged 16 and over and young people aged 12 and over.
B2 Mittelstufe Deutsch assesses language competence in (semi-)public, professional and educational (school, university) situations, in addition to everyday situations. This exam is for learne rs aged 16 and over and is also available in a version for young people aged 14 and over.
C1 Oberstufe Deutsch assesses the competent use of language in complex social and professional situations, characterized by a high degree of accuracy, correctness and situation-specific appro priateness. This exam is for learners aged 16 and over and is also available in a version for young people aged 14 and over.
C2 Wirtschaftssprache Deutsch assesses both general and professional language ability in complex business and professional situations, characterized by a high degree of accuracy, correctness and situation-specific appropriateness. This exam is for learners aged 16 and over
