History
ÄDK was founded in 1998 by Prof. Tarik Bary, writer, translator and former head of the department of Philology in Al Alsun faculty, Ain shams university. ÄDK was founded with the aim to create a platform for communication between Arab and German cultures, in order to facilitate cultural exchange and transfer of knowledge from both sides in various branches.

Years in Teaching the German language
(ÄDK)- Egyptian-German Cultural Centre was established in 1998. With various branches in Cairo, ÄDK offers German language courses for adults from A1 to C1 and for children from A1 to B1. Over the years thousands have graduated and have learned in ÄDK. In addition to our language courses, ÄDK organizes cultural projects independently, or in conjunction with the Goethe institute. ÄDK is the first institute to be accredited from the Goethe institute in the Middle East and North Africa region.

1998
ÄDK is founded as a cultural and language centre in Cairo.
2000
An official partnership is signed with the Goethe-Instiut for ÄDK to be its official accredited partner in Egypt.
2001
The start of our Ausbildung program to develop and train teachers.
2002
Inviting guests and artists to spark cultural dialogue like:
Renowned Austrian Writers Barbara Frischmut and Walter Grond
2003
Starting our Film Club program with filmmakers like Yousry Nasrallah
2004
Launching our ÄDK Children program using arts, crafts and theatre.
2006
ÄDK becomes the first accredited institution in Egypt and the second in the Middle east from the ÖSD Österreich Sprach Diplom.
2009
The Goethe institute introduces globally its accreditation system and ÄDK becomes the first accredited German language institute in Egypt and the Middle East.
2010
ÄDK introduces its translation centre, launching worldwide translation projects in various fields: Medicine, engineering and creativity.
2013
ÄDK gets its second accreditation from the Goethe Institute.
2015
ÄDK gets its third accreditation from the Goethe Institute, reaching top quality standard.
2016
ÄDK launches the biggest translation project in the middle east arabterm.org that introduced thousands of new german words into the Arabic language.
2018
ÄDK introduces its online program during the pandemic, increasing its worldwide reach.
2020
ÄDK receives its fourth accreditation.
2021 - 2023
ÄDK receives its fifth accreditation, making us a record holder, the first in Egypt and the MENA region to receive five accreditations in a row
